According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), Russia carried out a “series of airstrikes” in Syria on Sunday as rebels advanced after taking Aleppo.
The SOHR said an airstrike on a hospital in Aleppo killed five people, while eight civilians were killed and more than 50 wounded in airstrikes inside the northwestern city of Idlib. It added that
fighter jets also struck rural areas in Idlib and Hama where rebel groups had “recently seized control.”
The watchdog told AFP that the Syrian government had lost control of Aleppo for the first time since the start of the civil war.
